How to Create an Effective Ebay Description
Most people
are aware of the popularity of Ebay as a way to buy and sell online. Ebay can even lay claim to being responsible
for the popularity of buying and selling on the Internet. With the fierce competition that abounds on Ebay these
days, however, to be successful in selling on this resource you need to ensure that your listings are compiled in a
first class way and that they can draw people to buy from you rather than from your competitors.
An initial
drawing card on Ebay is your items description. Get this right and you’ll have people trusting you and you'll gain
more money for your items.
How, then,
do we create an effective description?
-
List all the essential facts and figures. It’s
amazing how many descriptions omit things like the dimensions of an item, how old an item is or what
material it is made of. Interested buyers can ask the seller questions to get answers to such facts,
but they will be more interested in bidding if all the information is readily available without having
to ask. Remember to include payment methods and delivery charges too in your
description.
- Be
truthful and list item defects. Maintain your good name online. If an item you are selling has defects or
problems, make sure to list them in the description. Some defect may not be so easily noticed, but nevertheless
mention it. Buyers really appreciate honesty on Ebay; any complaints make it easy for them to leave negative
feedback.
- Be
passionate about your item. Particular words have great selling power to the viewer. Gorgeous, rare, luxurious,
beautiful, exquisite – all great describing words to use. If there’s a story associated with a particular item,
don’t be afraid to tell it. People seem to like that kind of thing.
-
You know the old saying: A picture tells a thousand
words. A clear picture of each item that you sell enhances your chances of selling. A decent quality
camera is essential, then, to be able to present your items well.
