The Importance of Autoresponders
Autoresponders are essential to Internet Marketing. Successful marketers, for
example, would find it difficult to achieve many marketing tasks without them and, indeed, consider them a big part
of their marketing strategy.
If you are into affiliate
marketing, market your own products, or want to maintain contact with past customers and develop relationships with
new ones, autoresponders enable you to get your messages out quickly and
efficiently.
An autoresponder helps you deliver
sales messages to customers on your opt-in list. You can send out reminders, follow-ups, or deliver newsletters.
Autoresponders inspire many creative ways to increase sales and build relationships.
Some marketers make use of a
step-by-step instructional course, breaking it up into small lessons and setting up a series of autoresponder
delivery messages. They then encourage website visitors to sign up via an online form to gain course access, thus
building their list of contacts and potential customers.
Because of spam problems, most email
clients use spam filters. These filters either move spam emails to a spam folder or just delete them. How then can
you ensure your emails will be delivered to your customers?
There are two procedures you can adopt
to avoid email deletion. First, for those people who elect to receive information from your autoresponder, redirect
them to a page carrying instructions for ‘white listing’ you. Being on their white list, then, ensures message
delivery.
Second, be aware that certain words or
phrases used in your messages will automatically activate spam filters. You can check specific words via one of the
various spam checkers that are available online. These programs are usually free to use, so it recommended you use
them before actually sending out any autoresponder messages.
Be careful not to use your
autoresponder improperly. Having one autoresponder respond to another autoresponder, for example, can be chaotic
and could cause server overload. This situation occurs when you sign up for something using your autoresponder
address. After the sign up, your message is sent to another person’s autoresponder, which responds to your
autoresponder – and this continues until it is manually stopped.
Another problem can occur when people
use their autoresponder address deliberately when signing up for discussion lists. This can result in their
autoresponder message being sent to the entire list, or to one particular list member each time a real message is
sent to the discussion list. An autoresponder owner can be banned for this practice.
When used responsibly, then,
autoresponders, can prove to be important automated tools for helping the success of your online
business.
