Why Network
Marketing?
There are two basic schools of thought when you mention network marketing to a group of people. You’ll get
a passionate response from some people who advocate it as a certain way to build up a long term residual income.
The others in the group will denounce all network marketing as Ponzi schemes or pyramids.
There’s no doubt about it that you need to be careful when choosing which network marketing company to
join. In a pyramid scheme the entire plan is to get your money then encourage you to enlist other distributors to
continue the process. With a genuine network marketing company the main plan is to move product. By creating a huge
network of distributors, the more products the business will be able to sell.
With any business opportunity you’re evaluating, gather as much information as you can on the company’s
products and operations. Obtain copies of sales literature, business and marketing plans. Determine the quality of
products being sold. Check out with company members their experience with both the company and its
products.
What about your upline? Can you trust the person who introduced you to the opportunity? Are they willing
to tell you how much they are genuinely earning? Check out your complete upline back to the founders of the
company. If it’s a new company, have they successfully operated previous businesses?
Is it a unique product you’ll be selling? What restrictions exist on how you can promote it?
It’s important to realize that only about 5% of network marketing businesses succeed. You would do well,
then, to consider the following factors that are some of the essential ingredients for any success:
1) Don’t use people to make yourself successful. Build up a relationship with
them before pitching your opportunity. People need to feel you are helping them to succeed; they need to feel they
can trust you.
2) In communicating with prospects, don’t rely on personal calls to get them
into the business. Many people don’t like telephone interaction, feeling they are being put on the spot. On the
other hand, email communication allows friendly communication without pressure.
3) Build your own mailing list and join other lists as this will allow you to
communicate and share new opportunities, as well as develop new relationships.
Successful network marketing is connected to an enjoyment of doing it and helping others enjoy working for
their success. It can be an outstanding business opportunity because the average person can achieve great results
through the power of leverage. Very little investment is needed to get started, and with commitment and hard work
success can be accomplished.
